Code assistance

Code assistance your team can actually adopt.

No proprietary SDK, no new editor, no migration. One OpenAI-compatible endpoint that plugs into the tools your engineers already have open.

What teams use it for

Completion

Inline suggestions inside whatever editor your team uses, as long as it can talk to an OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

  • Your editor
  • Same SDK

Review

First-pass review on a diff — catching the obvious problems before a human spends time on the subtle ones.

  • On pull requests
  • In CI

Tests

Generating the test you were going to write anyway, from the function and its call sites.

  • From call sites
  • Batch generation

Why it drops in

Code tooling has converged on the OpenAI chat-completions shape. That means the integrations your team already has — the editor plugin, the CI action, the internal script — usually need a base URL and a key, not a rewrite. The 384K output limit helps here too: large rewrites and whole-file generations fit in a single response.

What it is not

This is DeepSeek code assistance on a general-purpose model, not a purpose-built code model. Flash is not a frontier reasoning model either. For hard algorithmic work, subtle concurrency bugs, or anything where a wrong answer is expensive, escalate to V4.1 Pro — same endpoint, different model name. If your work is mostly that kind of problem, be honest with yourself about which tier you need before you optimize for price.

Questions about code workloads

Does it work with our editor plugin?

If the plugin accepts a custom OpenAI-compatible base URL, yes. Most do. Tell us which one your team uses and we will check before you commit.

Can we run it in CI?

Yes. It is an HTTP endpoint with an API key, so a CI step can call it the same way it calls anything else. Keep the key in your CI secret store.

Will our code be used for training?

We process request data to serve your requests and do not sell it. The detail is in our privacy policy and data processing agreement — and if you have specific requirements, put them in the contract.

How does this compare to DeepSeek Coder?

DeepSeek Coder is DeepSeek's code-specific model line; we serve the V4 family — Flash and Pro. Purpose-built code models are often stronger on hard algorithmic work, while Flash is a general model that is good at code and cheap at volume. The right answer depends on which of those your workload looks like, and we will say so rather than pretend one model wins everything.
